iSkin DuoBand

iSkin DuoBand

I skipped my run this morning.  No big deal because I’m tapering before this weekend’s Nike+ Human Race 10k.  Why did I skip?  Rain.  It wasn’t pouring, and I probably could have run, but I didn’t want to risk getting my iPod wet.

My iPod actually gets wet all the time.  The current armband I’m using to hold it while I run gets very soaked with sweat (eww) by the time I finish 3 or 4 miles.  There’s nothing to protect the iPod from having a sweat soaked fabric band right behind it.  It does have a clear plastic face, but this morning I was worried that it would get really soaked if the rain picked up.

The solution?  The DuoBand from iSkin.  It combines a silicone sheath that protects the iPod from moisture and a hard polycarbonate/aluminum cover to protect from scratches and impacts.  They don’t detail what the breathable band is made from, but it doesn’t look nearly as porous as the band I’m using right now.  They do mention a silicone ‘comfort zone’ directly behind the iPod, but I don’t think the entire band is silicone.

The only thing I don’t like?  The click wheel on the front of the iPod is completely exposed.  This is supposed to “ensure an optimal click wheel experience.”  Bunk.  If you’re going to protect the iPod from moisture, you’ve got to cover the click wheel too!  I’ve already got a solution for that problem in my head.  I would just take a little of the clear plastic from my current armband and layer that inside the silicone sheath.  Hmm… Then would it be a TriBand instead of DuoBand?

Benores NOT in Texas

Recently, while visiting some family members I’ve not seen in a while, I was informed that I’m not the only family member on the internet!  Gasp!  Shock!!

My cousin Kevin has his own website Benores In Texas.  He updates about once every two months, though in August we got two updates!  Have a look around, and bug him to write more!!   We need more updates Kevin!

Also, Kevin’s wife Shantell has her own Mary Kay sales business.  Make sure you check it out as well!

Are there any other family bloggers out there?  Let me know!
