Well, We Didn’t Need THAT Much Excitement

Seriously, we didn’t need this. Last night, after everyone was in bed at about midnight, our smoke detector went off. It only made noise for about 10 seconds, but we were all up and out of bed heading out of the house before it stopped.
We checked the whole house and couldn’t find anything that should have set it off. The only thing I could think of was maybe the smoke detectors were dusty…they were installed before construction was complete. So, maybe that’s all it was. I vacuumed them all, and one of them set everything off again while I was working on it, so I took that one down and pulled it’s battery out. Maybe we had one defective one. We’re going to replace it.
At any rate, we all got back to bed by 1:00 AM, safe and sound. Everyone is a little rattled, and I’m sure it took me until after 2:00 to fall asleep. I don’t think Christi was able to sleep very well either. We think Cooper actually slept through the whole ordeal, but both girls were pretty scared. Sarah stayed in our bed last night, but Christi says she seems fine this morning. Leanna is practicing being a teenager and is sleeping in.
