Going Local:

Written By: der5er - Jan• 13•08

When I first started blogging a couple of years ago, I searched all over google looking for blogs that were local.   I wanted to read from Richmond writers, or even Midlothian writers.  I didn’t find very much at the time.   I’m sure there was a lot out there, I just couldn’t figure out the right search terms to find them.

This week, a Google Blog Search for “Power Tools” lead me down the path to discovering over 230 local, Richmond area blogs!  The resulting post that has the distinguished honor of leading me to all the local blogs is Garage This at WORK:PLAY:FAMILY — who, I think, happens to be in my neighborhood.  While I’m reading his blog and thinking just how small the internets are, I click on the simple ‘rvablogs‘ link at the right of his page and I find, quickly, the best thing I’ve seen on the internet since Richmond Sunlight! is a great tool for finding all the local blogs.  I’ve already subscribed to WORK:PLAY:FAMILY, Made in Richmond, Conservative Geek, and Tobacco Avenue.  And I think there are a few more I’ll be subscribing to in the next few days.
