Rumor: BMW Isetta to be reborn?

BMW to bring back Isetta bubble car

As you can see from the two articles above, it appears that BMW may bring back the the car that, according to legend, saved the company from extinction in post-WWII Europe. The original ‘bubble car’ BMW Isetta got 60 miles per gallon out of its 13hp engine single cylinder engine.

I personally like the design of the original better than the rendering provided by AutoExpress. Though, I’m sure the new one will have a reverse gear and 4 wheels (in the UK, the Isetta came in a 3 wheel version).

I am always excited when a marque brings back a peice of its history. This will be an interesting rumor to watch, even if we do have to wait until 2010 to see if it really happens.
