der5er Finishes 1736th in the nTelos 8k!

That’s right, I actually finished the 8k! I knew I would, but it was definitely fun to do it! My final time was 45:07 minutes, or about 9:04 per mile. I finished 1736th overall, 1104th for all men, and 150th for my age! You can view my full results here. I started out running with friends from work: Jeff Dubiel and his wife, Souma Badombena, Andre Dabney, Beverly Hathaway, and Lynn Genier and her daughter. Of course, as you can see from their times, we all spread out quite a bit.

It was really a great day, and my time was about 5 minutes faster than I thought it would be. Of course, I was mainly there to prove to myself that I could do it, but to know that I was even able to improve on my practice times is even better!

I even looked pretty good while I did it, the official race photos are here. This is my favorite picture here. (I can’t post the pictures here because of copyright restrictions–and they are very pricey!).

Now, it’s time to start looking forward to the next race: The Ukrops Monument Avenue 10k on April 5, 2008!
