For the Love of Tools: Milwaukee Quik Loc

Milwaukee Quik Lok chuckOnce, while installing a ceiling fan in one of the kids rooms a while back, I lost two spade bits in the wall.á I was drilling on the top plate of the wall from the attic to run cables, and (twice) the quick connect chuck I had attached to my drill released the bit when I hit the wood–dropping the bit down in the wall.á My quick connect chuck, like most, released by pushing backward on the chuck (like what happens when you run into the wood). áWell, no more.áá

Milwaukee Quik Lok Bit SetMilwaukee Tools has solved this problem.á Their new Quik Lok chuck requires you to push forward on it to release the bit.áá I picked one of these sets up and it is great.á It has all the bits you need to drill and drive (except the spade bits…) and few of the ones you don’t need.áá Most of these sets come with too many that you don’t need.á The case is sturdy and just the right size to fit in the carry case for my drill–leaving enough room for a stud sensor, bullet level, pencil, and a few extra screws.

If you do any projects around the house with a drill, this set is a must-have.
