It’s early in the morning, and I’m the first one up today. The house is quiet, I have a cup of coffee (my second), and the computer. Don’t get me wrong, I like being the first one up on Father’s Day. While other Dads may sleep in, I like to get up, have some coffee and catch up on the news in the autoblog world, and among friends (mye28.com). Later, we’ve got lots of great family stuff planned.
A lot of people see today as a day to focus on how great Dads are. I look at it the other way around. Today is a day to focus on how great my family is! Without them, I wouldn’t be a Dad!
A lot of Dads would spend today on the couch, drinking a beer, and watching sports. I would rather sit and watch a movie with the kids or, better yet, go on a hike!
Most weekends I have a lot of projects to do, and I may not get to spend as much time with my kids as I would like. Either that, or they are too busy playing to include me. Today is a day to correct that! So, unless I get a new tool, I won’t probably go anywhere near my car today. Although, if one of the kids wants to go for a quick ride on a long twisty road, I’m all in!
