Over at ‘the old blog’ there was a special page that I could use to identify myself. So, since there’s no corresponding page here, I figured I’d make a post out of it.
I’m a thirty-something guy living in Midlothian, Virginia. I have a wife and 3 kids, a boy and two girls (ages 2, 6, and 9).
I work for a small regional wireless carrier as a switch technician. I really enjoy what I do. I get to use my troubleshooting skills, Unix, Perl, and web building. Note, the Perl and web building are not normal switch technician skills, but they serve me well here.
So, why did I choose ‘der5er’ as the name for this blog? Because I drive a 5er, of course. More specifically, I drive a 1988 BMW e28 535is (that’s it in the logo at the top of the page). It is Lachsilber Metallic (gray silver) with peeling clear coat (that’s not a feature). This car is amazingly fun to drive and maintain. This is what most of my posts will be about, my 5er.
Here’s a license plate I’d like to get:
Make sure to read everything under “Required Reading” at the right. There’s only one post over there right now, but I’m going to dig up another couple to place there.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I hang out at MyE28.com a lot. You can find me there by my handle: greg.epps
